About

Unique, bespoke and practical artworks.

The Glassification workshop is run by Nikki Robinson at Rose Mills, Ilminster in  Somerset, but we offer a personal one to one service anywhere in the UK.

Nikki has been been working professionally with glass since 2019, but has been fascinated by the beauty of glass since childhood…

“I remember going to Sunday School when I was 6 or 7 and not listening to anything I was being told, as I was too busy staring at the amazing stained glass windows!”

Nikki spent many years as a manager within the Civil Service, but her fascination with glass never left. She took courses in stained glass and lampworking (miniature glassblowing), but wasn’t until she took a taster course in glass fusing that her dormant love for glass was reignited.

“My imagination was fired by the almost edible quality of kiln fired glass pieces and all of a sudden I knew this was what I had been waiting to discover and that I had to learn all about it.”

Nikki enrolled onto a BA in glass and ceramics with the University of Wolverhampton, which indirectly led to receiving a flyer from the previous owner of Glassification saying the business was up for sale due to her retirement. The rest, as they say, is history and after selling up and moving her whole family from The Midlands to wonderful Somerset, Nikki took the reins in January 2022.

Nikki intends to continue and to grow the amazing work done by Liz Sparks to bring bespoke glass splashbacks to customers looking to commission a unique, bespoke and practical artwork that gives every new kitchen the Wow! factor.

We are constantly evolving. New designs are added to our collection all the time, so it is always work in progress. Although this site is dedicated to our glass panels for kitchens and bathrooms, as a glass artist Nikki also creates sculptures, bowls, vases and platters, gift items and jewellery. All these items can also be made to commission, so if you are looking for something specific please get in touch.

Much of Nikki’s work can be seen in the on site gallery, which is housed inside the Courtyard Gallery Cafe. Come and browse the glass items for sale while having a coffee. Nikki is usually in the studio on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, so feel free to knock on the door for a look round, see the work in progress or have a chat about what Nikki can make for you.
